Re: OGILVIE - Grenada

I am so sorry I never saw this post when it appeared. But I think I may have a connection. My Peter Ogilvie and his wife Margaret Reid had 7 children, and indeed one of them was William who died in infancy. In Order - James (1840-1910), William Reid (5/02/1842 - 01/05/1842), Kenneth Chisholm(b 1844)...

OGILVIE - Grenada

My Ogilvies were originally from Scotland but my gt gt grandfather was one of the family who left for Ireland with his family. At the same time, another brother left for Grenada. Family lore says he and his Scottish wife had 13 children, plus he created 13 more children of various shades of tan in G...

Re: OGILVIE - Grenada

Peter William Ogilvie and William Reid Ogilvie are my family as well. The Reid name is presumably for Margaret (Reid) Ogilvie whose birth (Reid) family were silk weavers in Dundee. I have not been on the site for ages , but am ready to get on more frequently again as things are a bit more settled at...

Re: OGILVIE - Grenada

I am excited, finally perhaps, there may be a proven connection. I have some letters written by my great grandmother about the Scotland part, the contents of which haven't fully made sense to me as yet. I have a book passed down to me entitled "Seafield correspondence 1685-1708, second series #...

Re: OGILVIE - Grenada

I was briefly in touch with an Ogilvie family member in Toronto, whose parents had emigrated from Grenada, I believe there are quite a few of that branch in Toronto,Canada. She had given me the name and address of a relative in Toronto who was apparently very interested in the family tree. I never h...

OGILVIE - Grenada

The brother of one of my forebears emigrated from Dundee area of Scotland (Blaise Hall, Parish of Liff) to Grenada, where I have been told he fathered many children. Not sure which of the brothers was the one who emigrated - another came to Canada and founded the Ogilvie flour mills in Winnipeg. Any...
