BURROWES - Jamaica, Kingston & St Anns

Postby Phancy » Sun Apr 03, 2016 9:34 pm

I am new to this forum and am researching my family history. My Great Grandfather is Alfred E. Burrowes. I believe that he was born in Kingston, Jamaica and later migrated to the St Anns area where he owned and ran a printery that was located on Main St in St Anns Bay. His most famous apprentice was the great Marcus Mosiah Garvey, who identified him as being his Godfather in all of his autobiographical tomes. Another colorful relative is my Great Uncle 'Jack', who also ran the printery and owned property throughout the area. I was fortunate enough to meet 2 Great Aunts before they joined the Ancestors at the ages of 87 and 104, respectively. If you have additional information, please contact. Thank you.
